Ebbsfleet United produced a fine performance to earn a 1-1 draw at Blue Square Bet Premier big-guns Stockport County on Saturday.
Fleet boss Liam Daish recalled Preston Edwards and Giannoulis Fakinos with Joe Welch and Ricky Shakes dropping to the bench, to take on the newly-relegated side - who are undefeated at home under former Germany international Dietmar Hamann.
Fleet started brightly and Michael West (pictured) saw a fine shot from long range tipped round the post by Matt Glennon 13 minutes in before Danny Rowe drew a save from Edwards midway through the half.
Edwards kept Fleet in the game before the break as he denied Sam Sheridan's shot and Danny O'Donnell's header from a corner while at the other end Liam Enver-Maram clipped the crossbar from long range and had another effort cleared off the line following a corner.
Just as it looked like the hosts might be frustrated by Fleet, the hosts took the lead when a Euan Holden ball from the left was headed past Edwards by former Everton striker Nick Chadwick on 68 minutes.
However the equaliser arrived when Ram Marwa crossed from the left to West, unmarked in the area, on 76 minutes to fire into the net and secure Fleet's first point of the new campaign.
