A FATHER and son rapping duo have soared to the top of the charts to win £10,000 for Messenger charity of the year, The EllenorLions Hospices.

Tony Saunders, 44, and seven-year-old Charlie - aka Charlie chYps and Divvy Dad - scored the highest number of Facebook ‘likes’ for their video in the nationwide Rap for a Cause competition.

Three weeks ago they were in third place, but with support from celebrities such as Dartford rock legend Mick Jagger, comedian Russell Brand, and TV presenters Nadia Sawalha and Lorraine Kelly, as well as backing from the Messenger, Tony and Charlie were officially declared winners with almost 7,000 votes.

Rolling Stone Mick and Russell both took to their Twitter pages to support the pair in the FindaProperty.com's Rap for a Cause competition.

Tony and Charlie, from Fleet Avenue, Dartford, entered in memory of their son and brother Oscar who died in July last year following a gruelling 18-month battle with cancer.

Dartford-born Mick tweeted: "Please help me support Charlie chYps from my hometown. He's raising funds for The EllenorLions Hospices. Like his vid. Thanx."

Comedian and actor Russell tweeted: "Little boy raps to win money for the hospice that care for the baby brother he lost - vote for him here."
