Bake Off contestant Laura Adlington is through to the semi-finals of the competition.

Gravesend-born Laura, who lives in Halling, impressed judges in dessert week with her passion fruit cheesecakes and won the technical challenge to make a Sussex pond pudding – a whole lemon in suet pastry.

The 31-year-old’s showstopper captured the beauty of her garden pond using mousse and jelly, complete with jelly koi.

She had a close shave last week when her ice cream cake in the showstopper challenge melted.

Soaring temperatures caused problems for a few of the contestants.

The semi-final will show off the contestants’ patisserie skills. Tune into Channel 4, next Tuesday.
