Tall ships passing through Gravesend Reach make quite a sight

River traffic in the area has always been eclectic from container carriers to tug boats, but a regatta offered ship enthusiasts a rare treat.

Majestic sailing ships were captured by riverside photographer Jason Arthur, passing through Gravesend Reach on their way to Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Festival.

The gala started on Friday and will finish tomorrow at locations in Woolwich, Maritime Greenwich, Greenwich Peninsula and Canary Wharf, in London.

The vessels are just a few of the 50 people can enjoy at the event.

It is believed the ships are due to make their way back down the river past Gravesend between 3-6pm on Tuesday.
