Boy died after running into the road on the A2

A 16-year-old boy, who had been reported to police as missing from his home, died after running into the road.

Ekam Sadana, of Valley Drive, Gravesend, was killed on the coast-bound carriageway of the A2 when he was struck by an HGV.

Ekam, who had been born in Redbridge in London, suffered multiple injuries and died at the scene at about 4.30am on September 24, an inquest heard.

The tragedy happened between the junctions for Cobham and Gravesend.

Coroner Alan Blunsden opened the inquest into his death at County Hall in Maidstone today, but postponed a full hearing until February 23, when it will be heard at the new Kent Coroners' venue at Oakwood Park in Maidstone.
