Look at the loot in Aaron Lindridge’s car boot!

It may look as if Christmas has come early for the youngster but these toys are ones he is more than happy to give away.

The four-year-old will be presenting the gifts to children undergoing cancer treatment in hospital.

It was a way for him and his mother Tracy, to say thank you for the care Aaron received when he was diagnosed with a rare soft tissue cancer.

Tracy, 36, bought £100 worth of goodies herself and the collection was boosted by donations from the Messenger and generous well-wishers.

Aaron, who lives in Vanessa Walk, Riverview Park, Gravesend, will hand over the toys to the Royal Marsden Hospital, in Surrey, where he underwent many tests and scans and still receives regular check-ups as part of the remission process.

Tracy said: “The ones they have are getting tatty, breaking or going missing.

“The children are also getting bored of the same toys. Those that need to go into isolation for six weeks at a time have to keep the same ones in the room with them.

“On our last visit for an MRI scan even Aaron complained there was nothing different to play with so that gave us the idea. We just want to give something back to say thanks for all that the hospital has done for us.”

Tracy and Aaron, who recently started at Riverview Infants’ School, also wanted to repay the kindness of staff at EllenorLions children’s hospice service, chYps and have helped to organise a Halloween party.

The Spook-tacular will be held at the Viewpoint in Thong Lane, Gravesend, from 1.30pm to 4.30pm on Thursday, October 31.

Tickets for children, who must be in fancy dress, are priced at £2, with 50p donations from adults. Attractions include face-painting, a magician, apple-bobbing, music and games, competitions and cake sales.

There will also be raffle prizes, which Tracy is appealing for people to donate. She said: “The chYps service not only helped Aaron but also offered support to us as a family.

“This is just a way we can help them.”
