A senior manager at Age UK North West Kent is hoping to walk 1,000 miles in a year – to buy a new bathroom.
Community services manager Kate Smith is aiming to cover 80 miles a month by walking an average of two or three miles per day with longer hikes at the weekends.
An experienced hill and charity walker, she started her challenge on February 1 and has already tackled 200 miles.
She hopes to raise £20,000 for a new bathroom and facilities at The Fleming Resource Centre, in Clarence Row, Gravesend.
Graham Cole, trustee and director of Age UK North West Kent, said: “Our community services team offers a bathing service which is very popular with our clients and the bathroom is a vital part of our centre. Many of our clients can either no longer manage a bath at home or need assistance.”
