Tonne of cannabis worth more than £1m seized during search of van in Wrotham Road, Gravesend and property in Herne Hill, London

More than a tonne of cannabis worth more than £1 million has been seized.

It comes after officers stopped a Ford Transit van in Wrotham Road, Gravesend on November 13, following a report of suspicious activity.

The van was searched, and 500 kilograms of packed cannabis were discovered.

Two men were arrested, and enquiries led to a search of a property in Herne Hill, southeast London, on the same day.

Here, officers found more marijuana estimated to weigh around 800 kilograms. It was seized and the total street value of all seized drugs is estimated to exceed £1 million.

Jack Phillips, of Poplar Road in Herne Hill and Ramesh Tuladhar, 57, of Norcott Road, Stoke Newington, have both been charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

Phillips, 69 and Tuladhar, 57, appeared before Sevenoaks Magistrates' Court on Friday, November 15, and were remanded in custody to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on a date to be arranged.
