MOTORISTS hit a solid wall of traffic on the A2 this morning after a broken down truck caused one lane to close.

London-bound rush-hour traffic was brought to a standstill just after the M2 section following the incident at Gravesend East turn-off.

Roads around Gravesend were heavily affected as drivers tried to find alternative routes.

The Highways Agency also reported delays on the London-bound A2 at its junction with the M25, near Dartford, due to heavy traffic.
