Shortly before 7pm Southeastern announced that trains were likely to be cancelled, delayed or revised due to the “trespass incident” near Gravesend.

Affected routes were between Gravesend and London Charing Cross, London Victoria, London St Pancras International and Ramsgate via Faversham.

Southeastern further explained that trains had to be stopped for safety but emergency services and Network Rail were on-site to remove the person who wandered onto the line.

Passengers affected were able to use, for free, the Fastrack bus service between Gravesend and Ebbsfleet International.

They can also claim compensation if they keep their ticket and make a note of their journey.

Initally the problems were expected to last until 10pm but just after 8pm Southeastern announced the line had been reopened.
