POLICE arrested two men when they executed a warrant at a house suspected of being used as a drugs den.

A team of eight police officers, accompanied by two immigration officers, forced entry to a three-storey terraced house in Peacock Street, Gravesend, at about 9am on Wednesday.

Two men were found inside the property and during a search a quantity of suspected heroin was seized as well as other drugs-related paraphernalia.

Neighbours were also leafleted about what was happening and encouraged to pass on any information or suspicions they may have about other properties or people involved in drugs.

The raid, carried out by north Kent’s new Drugs Intervention Team, was part of the ongoing Kent Police crackdown against the supply and use of drugs in the county.

The North Kent police drugs team, in operation since April, has been responsible for the closure of seven cannabis factories in the Dartford and Gravesham area.

Speaking about Wednesday's operation, PC Adrian Parsons, said: "It was carried out in response to public concern about the anti-social behaviour of those who would visit this address at all times of the day and night."

He stressed: "We do take the concerns of the community seriously and this raid is proof that we will act on information and make every effort to prosecute those whose actions impact on the quality of peoples lives.

“Working in partnership with the landlord of this property we are confident that changes will be put in place and the issues surrounding this property resolved.”
