Two men are to appear in court next month in connection with a fatal collision on the A2.

Police were called to the coast-bound carriageway of the A2 near Dartford on March 1 to a report of a serious collision, in which Gravesend resident Mark Sharp, 46, died.

Following investigation, a 28-year-old man from Plumstead, south east London, has been summonsed to appear before Medway magistrates to face a charge of causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by careless driving whilst under the influence of drugs.

A second man, aged 59 and from Welling, has been summonsed to appear before magistrates on the same date to face a charge of dangerous driving.

Both men will appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on October 4.

Shortly after his death, Mr Sharp's family paid tribute to him.

In a statement, his family said: "Mark was sadly taken from his family in the most tragic circumstances imaginable.

"Mark, a 46-year-old HGV driver, was born in Dulwich and lived in Gravesend with his beloved wife.

"The son, brother, husband, and uncle will be remembered fondly as a gentleman with a happy, caring and generous manner to his loving family and friends.

"The keen cook, gardener and classic car enthusiast will be sorely missed."

The crash happened between Leyton Cross and junction 2 of the M25. Mr Sharp was driving a Nissan Micra at the time.
