Firefighters were called to a tyre fire incident last night - the fourth of its kind in three days.
Thames-side fire and rescue went to Dering Way on the Dickens estate in Gravesend at 9.30pm after being called to a similar incident in the area earlier that day.
There has been at least one tyre fire every day at the estate over the last three days.
One of the firemen said: “People are burning the tyres to get the metal inside the wheel and sell it for scrap.
“It’s an ongoing problem and we seem to be spending a lot of our time going to these types of incidents.
“It is also a danger to the environment and the regular stench of burning rubber can’t be pleasant for the neighbours.”
