Chinese Mooncake Festival held at Three Daws in Gravesend

A unique Chinese celebration is coming to a town in Kent.

The Mooncake Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, is one of the most important days in the Chinese calendar when it is believed the moon is at its brightest and biggest.

Traditionally at the harvest celebration lanterns are carried and mooncakes, a pastry filled with lotus seed paste, are eaten.

The unique cultural event will now be brought to Gravesend by artist Callisto who is hoping to share the “magical festival” she experienced while living in China.

There will be traditional tea and music, folk tales and legends, crafting sessions to create themed ornaments and writing in blue moon sand.

The Mooncake Festival will take place on Thursday (September 28) between 7pm and 9pm at the Three Daws, in Gravesend.

Tickets can be bought here and are £20.

It promises to be a fun, family evening to learn about and enjoy the unique festival.
