A van fire sparked a power cut in the Meopham area just after midnight this morning.

Flames from vehicle parked in Rhododendron Avenue heated an overhead cable which caused the temporary outage.

A fire crew from Thames-side made sure a nearby property was safe and waited for engineers from UK Power Networks to arrive to put the electricity supply back on.

The van was destroyed.
