Gravesend's iconic Clock Tower has been targeted by vandals.
The landmark, in Milton Road, Gravesend, should have lit up red for Remembrance Sunday this year, and to celebrate Diwali but that won't happen now following the attack.
The lights at the bottom of the tower have been destroyed and Gravesham council is now waiting for replacement parts to arrive.
Chairman of Gravesham Labour and cabinet member for community and leisure, Cllr Shane Mochrie-Cox, said: "We are disappointed that a mindless act means we cannot light the Clock Tower for two such important dates.
"We are doing all we can to identify those responsible, and when we do we will seek a prosecution for criminal damage and to recover the costs of repairs.
"We will not tolerate acts such as this."
