Gravesend basks in the
sunshine
It was hotter in Kent than in Bermuda yesterday.
Gravesend took the honours as the county's most sizzling town,
with temperatures hitting the mercury at 30.9 degrees.
Sun seekers from around the county made the most of the sky-high
temperatures, setting up barbecues, taking to the coast and
enjoying - or otherwise - England's match against Germany in pub
gardens.
Gravesend held the dinstinction, in 2003, of being the hottest
place in Britain ever.
But, when fresh figures came in, it was knocked off the top
spot during the August heatwave by Brogdale, near Faversham, which
boast a staggering 101C.
As for now, pundits say the warm weather is
expected to stay for most of this week.
Temperatures are set to remain in the high 20s.
