Mini Coopers are synonymous with speeding away a daring band of thieves in a 1960s blockbuster, but a car in Gravesend has now been caught up in its very own getaway.
A vintage Mini Cooper has been taken from a driveway in Whitehill Lane, Gravesend.
The cars were used by Michael Caine’s gang in The Italian Job and later became a pop culture symbol of Britishness.
Police are now appealing for any information on the car, which was taken between 9pm and 11.30pm on Thursday January 22.
It is said to be in good condition and has an ‘X’ registration plate.
A police spokeswoman said: “The vehicle, which is blue with white stripes on the front, has been passed down through generations and restored.”
Anyone with information on the incident should call PC Andrew Connor on 01474 366553 and quote crime reference XY/002614/15.
