Three arrests after police uncover multimillion pound cannabis factory at Canal Basin in Gravesend

Police have arrested three people after millions of pounds worth of cannabis was discovered on an industrial estate in Gravesend.

It was announced today a 46-year-old man from Gravesend and a 49-year-old man from Maidstone have been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

A 32-year-old woman from Essex has also been arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

The trio have all been bailed while inquiries continue.

Officers uncovered the massive operation at the Canal Basin after raiding the buildings under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Two patrol cars, one forensic van and a police dog unit were spotted at the scene of the industrial property on Wednesday.

In total, 1,600 plants were seized at various stages of growth.

Intelligence led to executing another warrant at a nearby building where thousands of more plants were found.

Initial estimates suggest the operation is worth several millions in street value.
