Witness appeal by British Transport Police after assault at Gravesend station on a Gillingham-bound train

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man travelling with his four-year-old stepson was assaulted at Gravesend railway station.

The 30-year-old and the child were trying to board a Gillingham-bound train on platform two when the attack happened.

PC Andy Thompson, investigating for British Transport Police, said: “A disagreement with another man took place that led to a physical assault.”

The incident happened at 3.35pm on Wednesday, February 25, but details have only just been released.

A 57-year-old man from Gravesend has been arrested on suspicion of assault and released on bail.

PC Thompson added: “I am keen to speak to anyone who was at the station and believes they may have witnessed this incident. Please get in touch with BTP or Crimestoppers.”
