A 55-year-old woman died today from injuries she received in a fire at a bungalow.

Kent Police and fire chiefs say initial enquiries do not indicate that the blaze, in The Rise at Gravesend, was suspicious but they are continuing to investigate the tragedy.

Three fire engines were called to the scene at about 9.50am after neighbours and passers-by saw smoke coming from the back of the building.

Fire crews were still at the scene this afternoon damping down hot spots at the bungalow. The victim has not yet been named.
