The sister of a man who was found hanged in woodland is running the London Marathon in his memory.
Lauren Vane, 28, is taking on the 26-mile challenge on April 28 next year - exactly a year after her brother Daniel’s death.
An inquest last month was adjourned after it was revealed important medical documents were not sent to the coroner or family.
Daniel left for the shops at around 11am and when he failed to return, his sister Lauren rushed out to search for him with his mother Sharon and oldest sister Roxanne Barrow.
Lauren, who is an NHS midwife has set her sights on finishing the London Marathon to raise money for Mind - a mental health charity - with Daniel.
She said: “About a week before Daniel passed away I had a moment of madness and thought this is it.
“This is what Daniel and I should apply to do together, as brother and sister, run the 2019 London Marathon.
“I felt this would give Daniel something to work towards, for himself, and to raise awareness of how real mental health is; how it affects your everyday life.
“Most of all to provide him with a sense of achievement, by completing a marathon, helping others, and most importantly raising funds to support knowledge and access to services that are desperately required.
“My brother’s death means more than just a precious life. It represents the loss of future experiences and future hopes. I hope people join with me to raise awareness, hope and funds for all those suffering with their mental health.
“Since 2016, Daniel had been suffering with his mental health issues and ultimately became a victim of his illness.
“He suffered with severe depression, acute anxiety and psychosis.
“Our family tried our upmost to support Daniel though the dark times and gain access to care providers in order to help him, however sometimes we felt let down.”
