Traffic was stopped on the A2 near Bluewater earlier this afternoon after a woman apparently tried to jump off a bridge going over the carriageways.
Kent Police said they were helping Metropolitan officers at the scene of the incident, just after the Bluewater exit, near Pepper Hill, on the coast-bound carriageway.
It is understood officers stopped traffic heading in the coast-bound direction for a short time so they could try and get the woman down.
At about 4.20pm the a Kent Police spokesman said the road was now fully reopoened and everyone was safe.
It is understood officers were successful in talking the woman down from the bridge.
