Young golfer Paul Elvin turned professional this week, just days after breaking the course record at his local club, Woodlands Manor.
The 18-year-old, who lives at West Kingsdown, and works at London Golf Club, made his debut in the pro ranks by finishing ninth with a two-over par 72 at the tptour series event at Knole Park in Sevenoaks on Monday.
Ahead of him is a busy schedule that will see him embark on a full season on the EuroPro tour, playing several Challenge Tour events, as well as qualifying for The Open and Tour School.
Elvin (pictured) , who plays off plus one, said: "I started playing at the age of 11 and began competitive golf about five years ago.
"I am excited about the prospect of turning pro and feel I am playing well at the moment. I used to work in the pro shop at Woodlands Manor, so I know the course and the people there well."
Reflecting on his new record, achieved in a monthly medal in one of his final events as an amateur, Elvin added: "I knew the previous record was 64 so I had to birdie each of the last three holes to beat it by one."
