An artist who has sold his work to the likes of Madonna, Elton John and Oprah Winfrey will be exhibiting his new collection at Bluewater this weekend.
World-famous, Alex Echo, is known for his billboard masterpieces for ABSOLUT Vodka and also for designing one of the most successful Swatch Watches.
Now, the painter come designer will be displaying his new venture, The Shape of Things at Castle Galleries on Saturday.
The Colorado-born celebrity artist will be in the Upper Rose Gallery from 1-4pm and his work will remain on display for another week.
While his work has sold for up to £20,000 a piece, Alex has also used his work to raise almost $850,000 for charity.
He said: “My work is the connection to my inner self. I have explored every possible form of art and looked to every possible inspiration, and yet this long process has always bought me back to nature, to beauty on the simplest plane.
“I hope that people can fall into these paintings and roll around in them. Look up at the blue sky through them. Smell the spring and summer breeze with them. Recall how sweet life can be seeing them – and remember how important the earth is to us all.”
Peter Gilby, Gallery Manager for Bluewater’s Castle Galleries said: "We are looking forward to welcoming an international art talent to Kent.
“Growing up in 1950s America, the Abstract Expressionist movement has greatly influenced Alex. A disciple of techniques practised by Rothko, Pollock and De Kooning, he combines aspects of expressionism, impressionism and minimalism to create beautiful works of art.”
