Ebbsfleet crashed to their third straight defeat on Tuesday night after a disastrous first-half showing in north Wales.
The visitors trailed 4-0 at the interval against a powerful Wrexham side sitting top of Blue Square Bet Premier.
It was two familiar figures who sent the home side on their way. Dele Adebola opened the scoring after just three minutes and Brett Ormerod doubled Wrexham’s lead soon afterwards.
Kevin Thornton fired a shot into the top corner on 29 minutes and the Fleet’s woes continued when substitute Robert Ogleby netted on the stroke of half-time.
Wrexham could have added to their tally after the break but Ebbsfleet pulled a goal back when Nathan Elder (pictured) converted a Lanre Azeez cross 13 minutes from time.
Results elsewhere left Liam Daish’s side five points from safety. They host third-placed Newport County at Stonebridge Road on Saturday.
