Wrotham-based Airwaves Racing remain in the hunt for British Touring Cars glory after two second places and a top-10 finish for lead driver Mat Jackson at Brands Hatch last weekend.
Jackson (pictured) joins Jason Plato, Matt Neal, Gordon Shedden and James Nash in an unprecedented five-way fight for the title, which will be decided at Silverstone on October 16.
Silverline Chevrolet Cruze driver Plato took two wins from three races at Brands, with race three going to Honda’s Neal.
Plato moved to the top of the championship standings after his wins before a sixth-place finish in race three gave Neal the lead of the series with five points separating the top two. Jackson is 36 points off the summit, with fifth place the best he could muster in race three.
Airwaves Racing team manager Oly Collins said: “Mat was outstanding in all three races to get a great points haul and keep us within a shout of the championship going into the final.”
Airwaves are also in contention for the Independent Teams Trophy, with just 15 points between leaders 888 Racing, Collins Contractors and Airwaves with 45 on offer at Silverstone.
