Youngsters escape unhurt from A2 crash

Several youngsters escaped unhurt from a two-car crash on the A2 near Gravesend in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters found one car on its roof when they were called to the road's London-bound carriageway, near the Gravesend turn-off, at about 2.30am.

A spokesman said five or six youngsters, who are not thought to have been wearing seatbelts, had got out of their vehicles by the time crews arrived. They were all taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The road was closed for about half an hour while firefighters helped highways staff clear a fuel spillage caused by the crash.
