Charlton's unbeaten start to the Championship season ended when they lost 1-0 at in-form Bournemouth.
The hosts scored the winner after just three minutes when Callum Wilson converted Marc Pugh's cross after the Addicks failed to completely clear a corner.
Despite having 87 minutes to find a response Charlton failed to find an equaliser and the home side looked the more likely side to add a second with Wilson and Steve Cook went close.
However, Charlton almost levelled through an Johann Berg Gudmundsson free-kick that was tipped wide brilliantly by Cherries stopper Artur Boric.
Bob Peeters' side dropped one place to eighth, with opponents Bournemouth now just one point behind in ninth.
