Stafford 0 Ebbsfleet 1
JOHN AKINDE’S injury-time winner was enough to secure maximum points for Ebbsfleet United against Blue Square Premier strugglers Stafford Rangers on Saturday.
Luke Moore crossed from the right and Stacy Long set up Akinde who tapped in from close range.
Ebbsfleet manager Liam Daish said: "Overall we deserved it. We had the majority of the play and the chances in difficult conditions.
"James Smith was a mountain at the back and everyone has done their job."
Ebbsfleet should have taken the lead just before the break when Moore broke clear before sending his long-range shot over the bar with just Danny Alcock to beat.
In the second half, Ebbsfleet were always a threat on the break and got back into the game during the last half hour with Michael Bostwick and Chris McPhee both going close.
A draw looked a fair outcome until Akinde popped up to fire home a late winner.
