Jason Plato triumphed after an official enquiry

Airwaves BMW's Jonathan Adam lost his maiden BTCC victory following a controversial incident with the Chevrolet Lacetti of Jason Plato in race three of Sunday's HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch.

Plato started the final race of the day from pole position alongside Adam's BMW 320si, maintaining the lead off the start line.

On lap two, Adam hit Plato from behind on the run into Paddock Hill Bend, which caused Plato's Chevrolet Lacetti to slide sideways. This gave Adam the opportunity to take the lead and secure his first race win on his debut BTCC weekend.

However, following an official enquiry, Adam was given a four second penalty for his role in the incident, which demoted the Airwaves BMW driver to second position, handing race three victory to Plato.

Rob Collard had clinched his maiden victory - and the first ever race win for Airwaves BMW - in the second race. Matt Neal steered his Vauxhall Vectra to victory in a dramatic opening race.
