Ebbsfleet United boss Steve Bown desperate for a home win against Farnborough in Vanarama Conference South

Steve Brown is a man under pressure and he knows speculation about his future will intensify if Ebbsfleet’s winless home run extends to five games this weekend.

Fleet welcome struggling Farnborough to The PHB Stadium on Saturday having lost two and drawn two of their last four games there.

Defeat could leave Brown’s men nine points behind Vanarama Conference South leaders Boreham Wood and the manager is under no illusions about his own job prospects.

Brown said: "Something’s going around, a real negative swell. I refuse to go on social media and I don’t read papers but it’s the only issue people want to speak to me about.

"It’s almost like we’re in the bottom-three and we’ve lost seven out of eight, not one out of eight (in the league).

"Everyone’s speaking to me like my job’s on the line.

"We’re going through a run of bad form but we’re third in the league."

Ebbsfleet had made their home ground a fortress since losing to Bromley on New Year’s Day but suddenly that feel has gone.

Brown said: "Maybe there is a confidence issue at home. The first goal is proving pivotal in terms of settling the nerves.

"We’ve discussed those things and we’re trying to tell the players that they’ve got the ability. If they believe in themselves and if they work hard, it will naturally happen.

"But you can’t get away from the fact that we’ve drawn two and lost two of our last four at home."

Goalkeeper Brandon Hall (thigh) and striker Billy Bricknell (ankle) are injury doubts for Saturday and full-back Chris Sessegnon has been ill this week.
