Ebbsfleet boss Steve Brown felt his side were robbed in their 1-1 draw at Staines.

Brown believed his side were wrongly denied two penalties before Michael Corcoran put through his own goal in the 92nd minute to gift Staines an equaliser.

He said: "I thought they (Staines) didn't deserve anything from that game. What I was keen to do was make sure the group is not too despondent because they've gone in there like we've been beat 4-0. We can't (feel like that) because that performance deserved three points.

"I've got to be honest, it's another two penalties. I'm fed up of talking about refs and penalties but there was a blatant handball. Even the assistant referee has said 'I saw it but it's on the far side to me, the ref's got a better angle' and he hasn't flagged and helped out.

"And the free-kick on the edge of the box is a yard in. It's a yard inside. Maybe he's misjudged it.

"Nevertheless, we did more than enough - Billy Bricknell's chance, Thala's one-v-one, Billy Bricknell's hook from the set-piece - to deserve all three points and, if anything, a 2-0 rather than a 1-1.

"But every now and again you get results that don't quite go your way. They kept plugging away and all the time you're only a goal in front, it doesn't leave you any room for error."

Corcoran's ill-judged header from Max Worsfold's stoppage-time cross left goalkeeper Preston Edwards helpless.

Brown said: "It was a very good ball in from the left-back. I've got one of the most honest groups (of players) and they were just desperate to get something on that to get it clear. Michael Corcoran, who's been fantastic, just in honesty, just trying to get the ball out, has led it to deflect into our goal.

"It's a crying shame because the group did more than enough. Staines are the in-form team, top of the form table and I thought our game-plan and what we did and the levels we performed at today were excellent."
