Northfleet racer Brett Lidsey is set for a double header in the Nurburgring Endurance Series this weekend.
Mechanical issues took away any chance of a podium during his debut in the series but pace was good and the team will be confident ahead of the return to the track.
Lidsey, 28, and his Sorg Rennsport team-mates Ivan Berets and Kevin Wolters face two four-hour long races, one on Saturday and another the following day.
The team were forced into a retirement last time out but Lidsey spoke ahead of returning in the BMW M240i and said: “Our first weekend in the Nurburgring Endurance Series really was fantastic, I can’t speak highly enough of the incredible job the Sorg Rennsport guys did and the BMW was so good to drive.
“After so long out of the car, and eight long months since I last raced because of the Covid-19 lockdown, it was mega to just be back on track in a competitive environment to be honest.
“I really enjoyed working with Ivan and Kevin, I think all three of us are well matched and we showed how strong we can be in this series. To challenge so well for the podium on our first weekend was exactly what we wanted to achieve. In the end the sensor problem ended those hopes, but our performance was the important thing.
“It’s going to be great having double the track time, after such a strong start to the season I’m confident we can take the momentum forward into rounds two and three.
“It’s an incredibly tough series, especially with so many cars on track and such a high standard of drivers and teams. The track alone is like no other challenge in the world, I absolutely love racing there.”
