Ebbsfleet United’s Kuwaiti owner has rejected claims he will get bored and walk away from the club in a couple of years.
Dr Abdulla Al-Humaidi has funded stadium improvements and an overhaul of the playing squad since KEH Sports bought the club two years ago.
Cynics suggest his interest will wane but Dr Al-Humaidi insists they couldn’t be more wrong.
He said: "If I was spending small amounts, I would be cynical but the amounts we’re spending here, it’s not about getting bored and moving around.
"We’re spending millions in this football club and tens of millions in this area so it’s not a matter of getting bored and moving around.
"To give you a personal example, I’ve lost interest in Manchester United, the team I supported for a long time. All my focus is Ebbsfleet United, so that is an indication.
"I follow results week in, week out and I try to get to as many matches as possible because I do like being here, I do like watching the team and love this football club.
"I play down talk of getting bored. It doesn’t make sense to me."
Dr Al-Humaidi watched the Fleet’s 1-0 win at Dartford last Monday and he was at Stonebridge Road on Saturday to see them beat Maidenhead 3-1.
He said: "The match at Dartford was a good experience and it was pleasing to see the team with so much passion, wanting to win every ball, every 50-50. It was something I haven’t seen before.
"Results matter but what matters more is the passion we see from players. Last season, it wasn’t the case, the passion wasn’t there.
"This year, it’s a different story so it is pleasing. I feel Daryl (McMahon) has done a great job with the team as a whole and individually with each one of the players."
