Boxing at the Commonwealth Games is nothing new for Cheavon Clarke - but representing England will be.

Gravesend heavyweight Clarke reached the quarter-finals in Glasgow four years ago in the colours of Jamaica.

But on the Gold Coast he'll be one of eight men fighting for Team England.

Clarke, 27, said: "I feel good. I'm ready to go and dominate.

"Even though I didn't get the results I wanted in 2014, it's a positive because it's helped me prepare better for this one.

"I'm very proud. There's a lot of people who want to wear (the England vest) but I've earned it and I'm going to give it my all. I can't wait to show people what I can do.

"Of course there was disappointment but everything happens for a reason.

"At the end of the last one, I said I'd be going to this one - and I'm going. It builds character.

"I'm going there to win, that's the sole objective. Everybody loves a winner, right?"

You certainly won't catch Clarke taking selfies on sightseeing trips in Queensland.

He said: "I'm only excited because I'm going there to compete. Loads of people are like 'you're going to Australia' but I don't care about that, I'm just going there to perform.

"Once I've hit my objective then we can get excited. It's all great going to Australia but I'm not going on holiday, I'm going there to win and that's all that matters to me.

"I honestly believe we will be the most successful team. I believe in myself and all my team-mates that we're the best in the world."
