GRAVESEND boss Liam Daish is urging his team to secure a top 12 spot in the Nationwide Conference and book a place in next season’s Football League Trophy.
Fleet’s run of just one win in their last 11 matches has seen them drop to 14th place and completely out of contention for the play-off places.
But Saturday’s recovery from 2-0 down to earn a draw at Altrincham has given Daish belief his injury-hit team can book a place in the Football League Trophy – formerly know as the LDV Vans Trophy.
He said: "It’s been a long-standing aim for us to finish in the top 12, and I still believe it’s possible, but if we hadn’t had the injury problems we have had since the turn of the year I’m certain that we would be coasting to a top 12 finish."
Fleet have five league games left, starting with a trip to bottom-club Southport on Saturday and a home game against Woking on Easter Monday.
