Ebbsfleet’s FA Trophy clash with Bromley on Saturday will show manager Steve Brown how close his side are to being genuine Skrill South title contenders.
Bromley sit second and their record of 34 goals scored is the best in the league by a long way.
Brown’s side are hovering on the edge of the play-offs and, although there are no league points at stake this weekend, the Fleet can lay down a marker for when the sides meet twice over the festive period.
Brown said: "It’s a game that gives us a good yardstick of where we are in our league.
"We’ve already beaten the leaders, Eastleigh, and it would be nice if we could put on a decent performance against Bromley.
"I want to go as far as I can in every competition. I haven’t tinkered with the team too much in the Kent Senior Cup or the FA Cup. I’ve made one or two changes but not wholesale.
"We’re playing a competitive side who are free-scoring, so I’m not going to change the side too much.
"This competition is narrowed down to non-league clubs, so there’s an opportunity to do well. We’ve pulled out a difficult tie but I’d love to win and pit our wits against a Conference Premier side in the latter stages of the competition."
Fleet goalkeeper Preston Edwards, forced off by a knee injury against Concord two weeks ago, is back in training and expected to be fit this weekend.
