Halifax Town 1 Gravesend & Northfleet 1
GRAVESEND stretched their unbeaten run to five matches as they took a point from their Nationwide Conference trip to Halifax Town on Saturday.
The visitors took the lead inside two minutes when Charlie MacDonald produced a superb chip over the advancing goalkeeper after the referee had allowed play to continue.
The home side came desperately close to an equaliser in the ninth minute when Lewis Kileen's header beat Lance Cronin in the Fleet goal but came back off the inside of the upright.
But they were level on the stroke of half-time when Cronin failed to claim Steve Torpey's cross having committed himself and Ryan Sudgen was able to nod into an ungaurded net.
MacDonald had had chances to extend Gravesend's lead before the break. First, he headed wide when he should have done better and then he forced a fine save from Craig Mawson after Mark DeBolla had found him with a pinpoint cross.
Gravesend: Cronin, J Smith, McCarthy, R Smith, Ricketts (Hawkins 89), Slatter (Coleman 86), Keeling Quinn, DeBolla, Moore (Sodje 72), MacDonald.
Subs Not Used: Mott, Ekoku.
