Ebbsfleet United will allow contracted players to leave on a free transfer

The last six players on contract at Ebbsfleet will be allowed to leave the club for nothing this month.

Fleet have told clubs in League 1, League 2 and the National League that Ebou Adams, Nathan Ashmore, Jack King, Sean Shields, Corey Whitely and Lawrie Wilson are all available on a free transfer.

But manager Garry Hill says that offer only extends to the end of May.

He said: "As everyone’s been made aware by myself in an open meeting, I will wait until after May 30 because I’ve offered all those players who are on contract the opportunity, if they feel it’s right for their future, to have a free transfer.

"Those players who have not been offered terms, I’ve left everything until after May 30 purely so I know what I can and can’t do in respect of decisions being made by players and representatives.

"I can’t do any more than be honest and up front, which I always am, and go from there.

"Peter Danzey, the club secretary, forwarded a list across to the National League last week, being circulated to all National League clubs, EFL 2 and EFL 1 clubs and informed them that until the end of May, these players – due to financial restructrure – are available for a free transfer so (if there is) any interest, please call the manager.

"At this present time, I’ve had no calls to me apart from the one regarding Michael Cheek."

Cheek signed for Bromley on Friday and spoke to KentOnline this week about what has been a stressful season for the Fleet players.
