Hartley Country Club have one hand on the Kent League trophy and could win the title this weekend.

Six straight wins since the halfway stage of the season have sent them 30 points clear at the top of the Premier Division with three games to play.

They host Tunbridge Wells on Saturday and a seventh victory might be enough to see them crowned champions.

Captain Andy Tutt said: "We’re playing some good cricket at the moment. Everyone seems to know their jobs and winning becomes a massive habit.

“We’ve got players who have played in this league for a long time and we know our game, which helps. When you’re top you are there to be shot at, but when you’ve won six out of six in the 50-over format, it must create pressure for the other clubs.

"Our last two games have been against Sevenoaks Vine and Beckenham, who were both second when we played them and we beat them pretty convincingly."

Hartley bowled Beckenham out for just 63 on their own ground to win by 116 runs.

Tutt said: "It was such a big game so to come out with such a convincing win was pleasing.

"We’ve got a reputation of being stronger in the back half of the season but other clubs brought that to our attention rather than us telling everyone else.

"We’d like to win our last three games because 14 wins is the most ever in this division and we’re trying to get 15.

"But we can’t think about our last two games, only this Saturday, because otherwise that’s when complacency comes in and you can slip up."

Play starts at noon in all of Saturday’s Premier Division games, with second-placed Beckenham at home to Bexley.
