Gravesend Rugby Club have reached Christmas top of London 1 South but their injury list is giving head coach Matt Williams a headache.

Last weekend, the Gs saw off Dover 33-10 to record their 10th straight win and they lead second-placed Chichester by four points.

But victory came at a price, with CJ Osazuwa suffering a knee injury which will keep the Nigeria international out for several weeks.

Williams said: "We’re going into Christmas top of the league and we’ve now lost less games than anyone else. But we’ve got a few niggling injuries and Christmas is an opportunity for everyone to chill out.

"The most important thing for me is letting my squad get over their injuries. In a first-team squad of 30 players, half of them are injured at the moment.

"Haywards Heath, who we play in our first game back, are bottom of the league but I will go there with a depleted team. It’s how I deal with that."
