Manager Dennis Kutrieb wants his Ebbsfleet players to take a single-minded approach to their football again.

The Fleet boss was not impressed by the officials again on Tuesday night at Cheshunt and, for the second game running, decisions made in the middle took his players’ mind off the job in hand.

“We know what we are doing wrong and what is happening, what we could do better and what we can’t change,” said Kutrieb.

“There’s a few things that you can’t influence and that was the case again on Tuesday, but even more so you need to try and influence as much as what you can.

“From this point of view, we need to focus on ourselves again and then we will be fine.

“The players can respond. They ran their socks off at Cheshunt, I’m excited to see the stats because they pushed forward.

“Even at the end, Toby Edser just normally uses his inside foot and puts it in the corner, but he decided to smash it and that’s when you feel pressure in the last minute.

“It’s decision-making, obviously it changes when you are under pressure and that’s normal. That’s why we love this game as it can change.

“We need to make sure we do things the right way and don’t concede stupid goals and then we’ll be fine.”

While Ebbsfleet may have lost their way in the second half at Cheshunt, there were still enough opportunities across the 90 minutes for Kutrieb’s men to have collected all three points.

“It’s not always easy,” said the Fleet boss on converting the chances. “It’s not like you can practise it in training as if there are 10 other players in the six-yard box it’s not easy to score. That’s how it is sometimes.

“I’m not worried about us scoring goals. We will score goals, but we need to make sure we don’t concede because the worst case is a 0-0 game and you still go home with a point.”
