Boss Danny Searle has urged his Ebbsfleet players to keep earning the right for the fans to come out in their numbers to support them.

Relegation-threatened National League Fleet take the short trip to Dagenham & Redbridge today (kick-off 3pm), having drawn 1-1 at home to in-form Southend in front of a crowd of more than 4,000 on Easter Friday.

Ebbsfleet have still only been beaten once since Searle took charge in February.

“We have got to earn the right for the fans to travel,” said Searle.

“If we perform like we have been, they’re going to want to come and support you. Long may that continue.”

The Fleet will start the day 19th, four points ahead of Boreham Wood - beaten 4-1 by Ben Strevens’ Daggers on Easter Friday - and with a game in hand.

Searle said: “They had a great result.

“Strevs has got them playing some good stuff and they have got some good talent in their squad.

“But if you look at who we have got until the end of the season, there’s no one you look at and think ‘I think we have got three points pretty much guaranteed there’ - there’s no one like that.

“It’s a really fantastic league this year.”

Searle’s side picked up another valuable point against Southend, now unbeaten in 12 matches, as substitute Dominic Poleon equalised.

The Shrimpers are 10th and only eight points off the play-offs - despite a 10-point deduction this term.

Ebbsfleet’s manager stated: “They would have been seventh (without their points deduction).

“When you think of the level of sides that have come here since our tenure, we have played some really good sides and we have been good at home. I wanted this to be a fortress.

“Part of that fortress is the fans.

“They were excellent.”

When the Fleet hosted Dagenham & Redbridge in late October, striker Charley Kendall came up with a stoppage-time goal, as it finished 1-0 to the visitors.
