Michael Campbell and Paul McGinley to play the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship at London Golf Club

Major champion Michael Campbell and Europe’s 2014 winning Ryder Cup Captain Paul McGinley will tee it up at the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship at London Golf Club from August 1-4.
With less than a month to go until the event returns, Campbell and McGinley are two further stars to add their weight to an impressive field for one of the biggest events on the Staysure Tour International Schedule.
Campbell, who shot to fame in 2005 when he won the US Open by two shots ahead of Tiger Woods, is set to make his first Staysure Tour appearance on European soil after turning 50 in February.
McGinley, meanwhile, will be aiming to better last year’s tied 19th result when he returns to the Kent club for one of the biggest weeks on the over-50s circuit.
The 52-year-old led Team Europe to a 16½ - 11½ victory over Team USA at The 2014 Ryder Cup and after hosting the 2019 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, he continues his season on the over-50s circuit.
This championship follows the Senior Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes and fans can expect four days of exciting action with the duo joining major and senior major winners including Paul Lawrie, Shaun Micheel and Colin Montgomerie.
It is the second year the championship follows the senior major and for a second time will be played on the International Course at London Golf Club, with Tour sponsor Staysure putting their name to the event again, with it becoming one of the highest tiered events on the Staysure Tour international schedule outside of the Senior Majors with a prize fund of £400,000.
Last August was the first time since 2009 that London Golf Club had hosted a European Tour-sanctioned event, having welcomed the 2009 European Open to the Heritage Course.
Following the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship debut on the Kent layout, chief executive Stephen Follett is thrilled to welcome the over-50s circuit once again.
“The club has a long tournament heritage and we thought it was the right time to bring a professional event back to London Golf Club,” he said.
“Having the opportunity to host the Staysure PGA Seniors Championship for the second consecutive year, when we celebrate our 25th anniversary, is even more special.
"We’re looking to grow on the success of 2018 and once again offer our team the opportunity to present the venue they work on not only nationally, but globally.
“The new names for this year’s championship show how the event is growing in stature and quality. Having defending champion Phil Golding, Colin Montgomerie, Paul McGinley and three former Major Champions such as Paul Lawrie, Michael Campbell and Shaun Micheel is a testament to the hard work everyone is putting in to make the 2019 event a huge success.”
Staysure chairman Ryan Howsam said: “We are proud that our sponsorship has resurrected this prestigious tournament and the calibre of professionals confirmed to play only enhances the quality of the event.
“After hosting a fantastic tournament at Lahinch on the European Tour we are pleased to welcome back Paul McGinley to London Golf Club after his appearance in 2018.
"Plus, what is really exciting this year are the debutants. We have three major winners in Paul Lawrie, Shaun Micheel and now US Open champion Michael Campbell, the latter two of whom will both be making their Staysure Tour debuts.
"It really is a stellar field of golfing legends and we are proud to be involved.”
For only £10 fans can experience a day watching the stars of the Staysure Tour at London Golf Club, while a season ticket, which will grant access on all four days, will cost £15.
