Ebbsfleet boss Daryl McMahon was shocked by his team's second-half display on Tuesday night.

Things looked good at half-time with Fleet 1-0 up against Whitehawk and in the mood for more goals.

But after Charlie Sheringham had missed a penalty, following the dismissal of Hawks keeper Lucas Covolan, they dropped deep and ended up conceding a late equaliser to former Fleet midfielder Michael West.

"It just went a bit disjointed," McMahon said. "I’ll find out why, I’ll put my finger on it. I can’t quite now. I’m really shocked by it but we’ll regroup.

"We were terrific in the first half, created lots of chances and even in the poor last half-an-hour we still had a load of chances to win the game.

"But we panicked a little bit and looked nervous.

"We’ve got to do better in possession of the ball. If we moved the ball better, 11 v 10, the game, for me, is over because we’ve been superior 11 v 11.

"Sometimes it galvanises the 10, we’ve seen it before and the 11 don’t move the ball quickly enough because they’ve got an extra man.

"They become a little bit lazy and maybe we did that a little bit."
