Ebbsfleet travel to Whitehawk on Monday looking to increase their lead at the top of National League South with a result at one of the division's toughest venues.

Sixth-placed Hawks are the league's top scorers and they reached the second round of the FA Cup before losing to Dagenham & Redbridge in a replay which required extra time.

Leaders Fleet are 10 points clear with a game in hand and manager Daryl McMahon insists the quality of the opposition won't change the way they approach the trip.

He said: "I don’t see the point in going anywhere for a draw. Lots of teams do that, come and set up for a draw and sometimes it works but a lot of the time, you lose.

"That’s just my philosophy. I don’t believe in going for a draw, I don’t see the point.

"We’ll obviously set up not to concede goals and to defend properly but we’ll go there to do what we normally do, to dominate the ball and be exciting to watch."

The game sees two of the league's most entertaining teams go head-to-head at the Enclosed Ground in Brighton.

But McMahon said: "I don’t think it’ll be that open. I think it’s going to be two good footballing sides, depending on what the pitch is like and what the weather’s like.

"We hope it’s a good game, we’ll go there trying to make it a good game and we go there trying to win.

"We know that we’re playing against a very good side. Whitehawk have got some terrific players and we’re looking forward to it.

"It’s going to be a challenge - and for them as well. We’re nine wins and a draw away from home in the league.

"We know they’re a very good side with some terrific players and a manager who knows the league really well but we go there looking to put a performance in again."

Ebbsfleet fought back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Whitehawk in the reverse fixture in August. Danny Haynes and Matt Godden came off the bench to score in a dramatic game at Stonebridge Road.
