Ebbsfleet United have reassured supporters that Jordan Parkes is not for sale.

The midfielder has scored eight goals in 11 games since arriving from Hemel Hempstead for an undisclosed fee in the summer.

Parkes, a former England youth international, has already attracted plenty of interest but Fleet vice-chairman Peter Varney insists he’s going nowhere.

He said: "I’m not stupid, I know that once players score goals and catch the eye, scouts will start to come.

"You get told about bits and pieces but you don’t know whether they’re true or not. You never know until somebody makes you an offer.

"But the message loud and clear is that he is very much part of our plans and it doesn’t matter what comes our way, he won’t be leaving here.

"The whole management team were keen to get him here in the summer. He was a player Daryl (McMahon) targeted quite early and it took a little while in the negotiations with Hemel but he wanted to come here.

"He got nearly 30 goals in all competitions last year and he’s a special talent. He’s got that gift of being able to find space and he’s scored some spectacular goals.

"He’s not for sale – and that doesn’t apply only to Jordan. There are some other players here who are playing well.

"Danny Kedwell’s probably back to the best form that got Gillingham fans supportive of him, Matt Godden’s scoring goals, Matt Fish has been fantastic, Tom Bonner has been an outstanding captain, Kenny Clark, if you go all the way through the team, we’ve got people performing well.

"Jordan attracts the attention because of the number of goals but clubs will also be looking at the goals-against column.

"When you’ve only conceded six (in 11 games) and two of those were in one game, that gets other people catching the eye.

"It doesn’t matter who it is, nobody is for sale here and we will not allow players to leave while we’re in the position that we’re in."
