Ebbsfleet visit St Albans on Saturday looking to extend their winning start to the new season.

Daryl McMahon’s side are one of just five teams in Vanarama National League South to have picked up maximum points from their opening two fixtures.

They beat Basingstoke 1-0 on Saturday before winning 2-0 at Maidstone on Tuesday night to make it a perfect start to permanent management for McMahon.

He said: "Basingstoke, because of where they finished last year (third), and the Kent derby were two big games for us. To come out of them with six points is a great start.

"It’s difficult to assess the performance in a Kent derby where it’s quite an emotional game. The crowd are going mad and players can get a little bit sidetracked sometimes by that.

"We gave a derby performance, in terms of our guts, spirit and two good goals."

St Albans have just one point so far but McMahon knows better than to underestimate the Hertfordshire outfit.

He said: "I went to watch them on Monday night (against Oxford City) and it’ll be a difficult game.

"They got beat and I’m sure they’ll want to bounce back with a good performance against us on Saturday."
