Garry Hill pointed to bad decision-making and a lack of quality in front of goal after Ebbsfleet's FA Cup exit at Cheltenham.

There was little between the sides over two games but Fleet only worked the Robins goalkeeper once in Tuesdays first round replay.

Hill has yet to see his side score in four-and-a-half hours of football since taking over as manager.

He said: "I thought the first goal would always be an important goal. They started brighter in the first half but we got in the game.

"But I’ve noticed, not only tonight but over the last 10 days, decision-making and the lack of quality in the final third has been very costly to us in games.

"Take nothing away from Cheltenham but we shouldn’t really have had to come here tonight. We should already have been in the second round because we had enough chances in the first game at home but lacked quality.

"Boreham Wood away on Saturday, we absolutely battered them for 25-30 minutes and I’m not saying one or two chances, we had four or five great chances and only worked the goalkeeper once.

"The application, work-rate and commitment, of every player since we’ve been here, whether it’s been in training or playing, has been first-class.

"But that is the dividing line. If you want to be part of a successful football club, there’s times in matches when you have to turn round and take those opportunities when they come along.

"In cup football and also in league football, if you want to be pushing on in competitions, you must take chances and have that final bit of quality.

"You analyse it over the three games we’ve been here and we haven’t scored. That says a lot because we’ve created enough.

"Defensively, we’ve looked very solid. At 1-0 tonight the little lad’s come on (Alex Addai) and we knew he was a dangerous weapon when he played down at our place. He came on and he was lively.

"He’s got the ball through Jack Payne’s legs, whether it was done on purpose or not, but there was no way the miscue was done properly. He’s tried to get it in the box, he’s miscued it and the boy’s headed it in. That happens.

"When you are where so are so late in the game and you lose a player (to a red card), that doesn’t help. We’ll wait for the referee’s report but it looks like he (Sam Magri) got sent off for dissent. That doesn’t help us, not only tonight but going forward.

"We’ve seen enough now in 10 days at the football club. Of course there’s restrictions and we’ve got to duck and dive and move certain things about but we’ve shown we can defend properly.

"We’ve got ourselves into areas to hurt teams but at the present time - and it doesn’t mean they’re bad players, on Saturday it might click for us - that has been the difference at the moment.

"I’m not disappointed with the performances. I’m honest and I will have a team working hard but winning games is down to that final third.

"We’ve had opportunities to win those games and we haven’t taken them."
